ASUS has launched, what is supposedly called the first Meego netbook, into the market and it is called the ASUS X101 netbook. It is a 10.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1024×600 pixels, but having a single core Intel atom processor. The netbook has all the basic functionality and internal specifications, like the 1.33GHz processor and the connectivity options too are pretty good.

The other stuff in the netbook are 16GB SSD, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, 2x USB 2.0, microSD card slot, headphone, Kensington key lock and a 2600mAh 28Wh battery. With the Meego being new into the netbook world, we are not sure whether the 1.33GHz would be quite good enough to hold the speed of the interface, but still the price of the netbook is quite less when we compare that to the other similar sized netbooks in the market.
The Meego version of the ASUS X101 netbook would be available for just $209, whereas the Windows 7 version is coming for around $300 so it would be better to opt for the Meego to experience something new, as the Windows 7 is already coming in some other good netbook brands. There is no official news or information about the battery life of the netbook, where the battery life is one of the biggest concerns for users.

The netbook is already being shipped in the U.S. and a few offline retail suppliers have stocked them up, whereas a few other sources say that the shipping in both U.S. and all around the world would take time and nothing would happen before August end.
