How to Get Free BSNL 3G Internet Using 2G GPRS Internet Plan

BSNL has it’s 3G services activated at many places all around the country, and they have many plans based on the data usage for the 3G services usage. But still, for those who are using their basic 2G networks to use the internet, being worried about the 3G pricing and upgrading, there is a trick using which you can enjoy the 3G services at the same cost of the 2G services.

Disclaimer: This trick has worked with many, but is not a guaranteed trick, so don’t blame me if it didn’t work with your SIM, but the trick is worth trying

Here is how you can try to get the Free 3G network and data usage on the 2G plan –

• If you have a 2G SIM, you should first need to have a Rs. 50+ balance in your phone.
• Now send an SMS as “GPRS PRE” to 53733 and the service would be activated within 24 hours. You would get the settings via SMS or you would need to call customer care to get the settings.
• After the internet is activated, you need to e-recharge your phone with the unlimited plan of 2G internet, the price being different at different locations. Most of them have Rs. 230 unlimited plan in their areas.

Once that is done, you need to do a change in the settings of your 3G enabled phone –

• In the Settings > Phone Network > Every phone has settings of the phone network and the data network. There you have to select the network mode as UMTS.
• After that, go for a manual network search and you would see a 3G network of BSNL available for use. You can select that, and you would see the network arrows with the small 3G logo. That is the 3G network. You would get around 500-1200 kbps speed of internet, as claimed by many users who got this trick working successfully.

Note: You need to use BSNLGRPS or BSNLPREPAID as the access point name for the data network usage.
