iOS 7 users have reported an interesting and useful bug (really?) that hasn’t been fixed since Beta 1. As for what it does, this bug gives you the possibility to hide the annoying Newsstand in a folder with you don’t use it. By default, iOS doesn’t let you to do that and you had to use some Cydia tweaks that required your device to be jailbroken. Today we’ll be showing you how to make use of this bug on your clean, jailbreak-free iOS.

How to hide Newsstand into a folder

  1. Create a folder on your homescreen and place it near your Newsstand icon.
  2. Simultaneously tap and hold the Newsstand icon and quickly (!) double-press the Home button.ipad2
  3. If the 2nd step was done correctly, the Multitasking tray should open. Tap on the homescreen preview.ipad3
  4. Now you can see the Newsstand icon is sort of hovered. Tap on the folder you want to hide Newsstand in.ipad4
  5. Once the folder is opened, Newsstand should float there too. Press the Home button once and the icon will ‘take a sit’.ipad5

Done! Now your Newsstand icon has been hidden in a folder and won’t bother you again.

This bug can be used to place folders within folders too. Follow the below steps carefully:

How to put a folder within another one

  1. Put both folders within the same page on your homescreen. Please note that I will use the following terms in the next steps: Folder 1 (folder you want to hide), Folder 2 (parent folder).
  2. Simultaneously tap and hold the Folder 1 icon and quickly (!) double-press the Home button.

  3. At this step the Multitasking tray should open. Tap on the homescreen preview to get back.ipad2
  4. Now you’ve probably mentioned that Newsstand is sort of hovered. Tap on Folder 2 in which you want to hide Folder 1.ipad3
  5. Once the folder is opened, Folder 1 should float in it. Press the Home button and the icons will arrange accordingly.ipad4

That’s it! Now you have a folder placed within another folder. You can now place a new folder in the folder you’ve hidden as well. Do it with as many folders as you want.ipad5
