As per the ruling by the Calcutta High Court, the most popular website for downloading mp3 songs (of course in an illegal way) songs.pk is going to be blocked in India and no users from India would be able to access it. The news is not confirmed though, and the Indian music industry is trying its best to get the site blocked. Following are the various bodies in India which have appealed for the ban of the website –
- Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL)–UK based licensing company
- Indian Music Industry (IMI)
- Sagarika Pvt Ltd–music label
The court has mentioned that the Internet Service Providers and the complaint has to be taken seriously and all the ways of visiting the website in India has to be blocked. The different ways mentioned are –
- DNS name blocking
- IP address blocking via routers
- DPI based URL blocking
The various ISPs which have been mentioned in the rules, which have to comply with the rules –

- Hughes Communications Ltd India
- Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra)
