Earlier this year, Apple has made some minor changes to the way the content is displayed in the App Store. The information about an app’s age restrictions has been moved right below its name on the summary page. This way, the parents can clearly understand what their children are downloading. However, this can’t prevent kids from sneaking some downloads or making In-App purchases when the parents are away. This is where Restrictions excels, by disabling or limiting specific features on your device.
Setting restrictions can be done following a few simple steps:
- Navigate to Settings – General – Restrictions and tap on Enable Restrictions.
2. You’ll be asked to set a 4-digit password that will have to be entered every time you make changes to restrictions.
3. Set restrictions based on your preferences.
With restrictions you can prevent access to Safari, Camera, FaceTime, iTunes, iBookstore, Installing and deleting apps and Siri.
You can also restrict access to specific types of content: Music & Podcasts, Movies, TV Shows, Books, Apps and In-App Purchases.
Restrictions can also protect your email and iCloud accounts.
If you want to remove content restrictions, go ahead to Settings – General – Restrictions, tap on Disable Restrictions and enter your password.
