Some Apps on iOS (so called “freemium”) are available to download for free but offer in-app purchases to unlock their full potential. There are also paid-apps which offer in-app purchases to unlock maybe a feature or an expansion.
Having this option can be fun but at the same time dangerous, especially if you have a child playing around with your device. An in-app purchase could be as easy as a tap, thus children quite don’t realize they’ve been charged real money. Fortunately, there is an option to turn-off in-app purchases in iOS, and we’re going to show you how.
Turn-off In-App Purchases:
- Click on the Settings app on your home screen.
- Tap on General and then scroll down and select Restrictions.
- If Restrictions is not turned on, tap on Enable Restrictions, where you will be prompt to secure it by entering a 4-digit password.
- After you’ve enabled restrictions, scroll down and search for In-App Purchases under the Allowed Content compartment.
- Tap on the On/Off switcher to turn this option off.
That’s it, you now shouldn’t worry for being charged real money when your child is playing around with your iDevice. To learn more about what else Restrictions can do, read our previously posted article on how to set content restrictions on your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch.
