Tata Docomo, one of the leading network operators in India, have made a hike in the prepaid base tariffs and that’s without any conditions for all kinds of services like the Voice calling, SMS, Data plans etc. and it is clear after the official statement made by the companies a few months back that the competition between the various operators to gain subscribers had been a reason for the lesser tariffs, and that finally had affected the profits of all the companies.
Tata Docomo has been the first company to introduce the per-second plans for voice calling, and this was well received by the users and implemented later on by the several other operators too, shifting the momentum and making Tata Docomo the brand which brought changes into the telecom industry as a whole.
TRAI wouldn’t interfere in the pricing for the calls set by the network operators, and thus Tata Docomo has come up with the increased base tariff for both the new and the existing customers, where they would be charged at 2 paise / second unless you are using some rate cutters to reduce the call costs. Just to be good to the TRAI rules, Tata Docomo has put up the news and notice on all the newspapers and on their website regaring the new tariffs.
Thus this would be a spend from either sides, i.e. if you are fine with the new base tariffs you may have to pay 2p/sec for the voice calling, and if you want to get the rate cutter plan to see lesser tariffs, you are eventually paying for the plan too.
