SLR cameras are one type of digital cameras extensively used nowadays. Behind mirror reflex of this camera you can see CCD sensor that helps in sensing the objects. Once the picture is taken it will move towards lenses and hit the CCD which is responsible for converting light in to specified number of pixels. If you close the camera then there are no chances of entering dust inside but for some cameras always it is not possible to close and hence they get exposed to dust and dust will get installed in the internal parts of the lens. There are also chances of getting dust when you replace lens as they get exposed to dust and air. One simple solution to avoid dust is to reduce the time duration of camera open or close. In case if you are changing the lens make sure that environment is clean without any dust. It is highly recommended not to change the lens in dusty environment. To install new lens attach a stamp on the body of the camera that prevents most dust entering inside the lens. Depending on the type of SLR camera you are using you can apply some dust removal techniques. These techniques actively remove the dust irrespective of the lens size.
Anti-dust vibration is the most commonly used technique in any SLR camera. This technique uses high frequency on sensors for short period of time. High frequency makes dust vibrate or dance down from the CCD. The time duration for anti-dust system depends on the type of camera you are using and its rotation. Some camera does this activity every time you turn on them and some does when you turn off them. There are some cameras where users have to do it manually. The cameras that normally contain image stabilizer use this anti-vibration technique. Image stabilizer is like a motor that helps in moving the objects and hence we can use anti-vibration like additional software to it.
Passive dust caution is another type of dust removal technique from CCD. It removes dust accumulates on CCD every time. With the help of its static charges it attracts dust from CCD lens. To attract the dust most of the manufacturers add anti-static coating on lower layer of the CCD and when anti static charges are applied on to it dust will get removed.
Manual dust removal: it is the manual way of handling the dust. Keep the CCD in a accessible position and remove the dust. You can make use blower that applies air to remove the dust on the lens. You can also use special clothes but care to be taken while carrying it. Incase if you don’t know how to remove the dust then don’t remove at all because there are chances of damaging the lens while cleaning improperly. All dust cleaning technique as its own limitation and does not guarantee 100 percent removal of dust. But before using makes sure that the one you are using really meets your requirements.
