Apple launched the new iPad today, with some of the amazing features and specifications, but they aren’t discontinuing the iPad 2 production and shipping. Why would they, after all only the latest 3 months saw around 1.5 million iPad 2 sold round the world.
Apple did take a different step this time while naming the iPad as the New iPad, but they haven’t gone away from the trend, when the pricing is the question. The New iPad takes the price what the iPad 2 had, and there is a reduction in the price of the iPad 2, by a margin of $100.
While the New iPad, the 3rd generation one has the price of $499 for the 16GB Wi-Fi version, here are the prices of the Apple iPad 2:
- 16GB Wi-Fi version – $399
- 16GB Wi-Fi + 3G version – $529
Please note that there is only a 16GB version of the iPad 2 being sold after the launch of the New iPad, and the new iPad is what you would be getting in the 6 versions in total, based on the various connectivity and storage options.
The New iPad was launched today, with some of the best features being the retina display, the A5X quad-core chip, the 5-megapixel iSight rear camera with 1080p HD video recording. Apple has been different with the name though, where till the end of the Apple iPad event, everyone was waiting for the announcement of the name but Apple kept it simple with the name – New iPad. One would seriously have problems in naming it while they are purchasing or selling the previous generation iPads, and the new iPad.
