The results for the Indiblogger Samsung Galaxy Tab Contest (Contest Page) are out. Finally, after a long wait and after a lot of expectations, the results came just against those expectations. My brother won the competition (and actually yeah, he deserves it), and if you ask me, that is enough.. we got a tab! But in the end, that doesn’t matter for us. Were Samsung and Indiblogger genuine in selecting the winners?
- How can one select some entry with just pictures and scarce content, no much social sharing, and zero comments, as a WINNER?
- Why is an entry with comparisons, review, pictures, videos, lots of social sharing and nearly 100 comments (my entry about Samsung Galaxy tab 750), ignored?
- Where is the criteria of winner selection gone? (They said creativity, relevance, depth and level of interaction were the criteria for selection of winners)
- I have nothing against the bloggers who won it.. they won it because a few of them placed a hat named “Lucky” on their heads.
Some have to say that Indiblogger and Samsung didn’t do anything wrong.. the bloggers just fell into the trap. But bloggers aren’t that stupid to just leave things and let them go. There is a list of winners, 10 people in total, who I feel do not deserve to win the contest, but that all happened because of the the 2 brands which together played the game, thinking about the future and long-term benefit of theirs. What I can see from the winners list, is that Samsung might have seen who all bloggers would be helpful in future for any of their promotions. Can we call this as Bribing?
Samsung Mobilers?
According to the contest page, the Samsung mobilers are the winners who would be getting all the sneak peak, the information in advance, devices for reviews etc.
~ So the winners would be forced to be totally positive towards Samsung and their devices in future too, in return for a free Galaxy Tab?
What do the Bloggers want?
I’m sure Indiblogger and Samsung would be thinking, what do the bloggers want now? and how to end this topic? We just need this explanation from them, that on what basis the winners were selected. We know, that on any cost they won’t reverse the results (and we don’t want that, because this would make our fellow bloggers lose the name) but we need the correct answer on what happened on the backend.
We would send a list of entries which really deserved to be on the winners list, and then both Samsung and Indiblogger can let us know if the winners were really better than the list of deserving entries.
Factors that made things more suspicious:
- Less strong entries that won the contest
- Change in the date of submission of entries
- Not following the rules in selecting the winners
No one is a fool
We know and Samsung, Indiblogger knows what they are doing, and they are sure the things might cool down in a few days, when the bloggers would get back to the normal blogging and a few would leave Indiblogger in frustration and anger, but they don’t really know how much this would hurt their reputation. Contests would be seen from a different eye from now on, by bloggers who were actually hit wrong here.
Intel AppUp contest was one, where bloggers complained that things weren’t fare with them, and now after a couple days, this Galaxy Tab contest has kept the bloggers again in confusion.
As one of my friends told on his blog,
Tip: MOVE ON! As an alternative you can start drinking Limca to win a Galaxy Tab every hour. But it’s possible that you will be surprised at the end of the day that the person who won was actually drinking “Mirinda”!!!
UPDATE:
Check this winning entry (NOTE: I have nothing against the blogger who won it, but checking the entry, others can see how well Samsung and Indiblogger took their time to select a winner who actually didn’t know what he was trying to explain):
UPDATE:
Here is what I commented on the Indiblogger post. Lets see what we can see from here.
And WE WANT JUST THE CORRECT ANSWER OF WHY EACH OF THE ENTRIES WERE SELECTED AS THE WINNERS. NOTHING ELSE.
TAKE A SCALE OF 1 TO 10 –
AND ALL THE ENTRIES:HOW RELEVANT WAS THE WINNING ENTRY:
HOW CREATIVE WAS THE WINNING ENTRY:
HOW MUCH DEPTH DID THE WINNING ENTRY HOLD:
HOW MUCH INTERACTION DID THE WINNING ENTRY HAVE:COMPARE THIS WITH A LIST OF 20 ENTRIES WHICH WE FEEL HAVE BETTER STRENGTH TO WIN, THAN FEW OF THOSE WINNERS. CAN THIS HAPPEN? LETS SEE!!
The guy named “THE SORCERER” on Indiblogger, started bashing the tech bloggers with others like Puneet from Mobigyaan (one of those non-deserving winners who obviously would have to support Indiblogger to get the tab, or would be kicked on the back), Nupur etc. and this can’t keep anyone shut the topic if you see the comments by them.
> Indiblogger is the one who has to be responsible for everything in the contest, i.e. the dates, the winners etc. and has to ask why Samsung chose the winners without checking whether they fit the winning position. They did not. Why? They got the money for the contest, that is enough. The greed can be seen, when more than 70 comments posted there.. but still no single reply from the original poster, i.e. Renie or anyone representing Indiblogger. It’s only that “The Sorcerer” the guy without any real identity, barking like the dogs do when in a group at a place which they claim is their home.
Update: In response to this, a small tip to those who would try the contests sponsored and hosted by big brands – Learn from Blog Contests and Big Brands.
Update: I got a comment here, and the unnamed person calling himself “Commoner” didn’t want me to publish the comment, but that still says something I have to share. Sorry, Commoner.. here is the comment:
Hello
This is, for you. Request you not to publish this comment
I write to share my views on the voice you have raised. I do not know whether you will be able to take it forward or will they supress your voice as well. But friend, continue raising voices to all that you feel is not fair in life.
i am associated with indiblogger very closely and now you may not find me in their team. The website has just become a way to sell bloggers data and earn big money from brands. They do not care about indian bloggers and choose to charge big amount to brands for contests. the site has now become only about contests, meets and making money. Renie has a lot of ego and feels very insecured. Vineet now gets a lot of brands and thinks he is the co-founder. I would not comment on other members now. I am not shocked to see the current winners for samsung. This was expected as they have been doing this for a while. If you know Sourav Pandey, you would know that. he has won a few contests there and one of his plagiarized post was winning, indiblogger removed it later, but sourav exposed the way of how the prize money is distributed. For all the contests, the date changes arbitarily and the earlier ones, where votes determined the winners, everything was faked.
for this contest, so many undeserving entries have won when the rules have been changed a few times. maybe the only point of contention can be raised on the techcular entry where the blogger also claims on your blog that he also feels that this cannot be a winning entry. What more does indiblogger want? it’s a total waste of time to even participate on indiblogger. infact, they have done nothing for bloggers and there are better blogging communities. indiblogger should definitely be brought to task for this and your drive should not stop. am sorry, but cannot officially support you on this, but i wish you all the best. About the indipolice, you know the earlier moderator and his story. Even the current one, roshan, socerer, is so full of himself that he says all tech bloggers are idiots and numbnuts. he should be trashed on the indiblogger blogpost where he has commented like this. all tech bloggers should unite and should make him take back his words. all the best.
did you see the latest contest? the start and the end dates have changed again. The entries were to show on Sept 23 and now it is showing on Oct. 1 and the end date of the contest is changed. Same applies for results of Fiat contest.
