Samsung led the way with 15.76 % of the sales. Micromax was second with 13.33%. Apple was third with 9.92% while HCL and Karbonn were fourth and fifth with 7.05% and 6.17% respectively.

Digging in Deeper

Samsung had launched its Galaxy Tab 2 which also had calling facility. It was a huge success and increased the tablet sales to a lot for Samsung. Samsung’s other high-budget tablets also got some good reception by the people making Samsung the leader of the pack in tablet reports in India.

Micromax began its tablet sales in the second quarter of 2012 and after the launch of Micromax Funbook, the overall tablet sales began to increase. As Micromax began to roll out more and more of its budget tablets, sales increased and brought some brilliant profits and reputation for Micromax making them the second leading brand in the tablet reports in India.

Apple! Well, you can just not take them out of the top three. The tablet manufacturer leader in the world falls short to Micromax and Samsung here mostly because of the pricing of the tablets. In India, people prefer to get all at less. That’s why Apple remains third in the tablet reports in India.

HCL and Karbonn followed Micromax and launched some budget tablets and ended up getting some profit out of it. Since HCL already had a better reach than Karbonn, it was able to beat Karbonn, even though by a small margin.

So, it looks like the tablet sales have transformed and for the better. Reports suggest that there are going to be 6 million sales in 2013. All this will make the tablet wars much better. It would be interesting to see that who reigns supreme in 2013.
